in any or all of the above please contact us so that we may assist
you in anyway.

A well known brick making organisation contracted us to conduct an energy survey
at a remote location. During an intensive investigation, we discovered that their ‘ovens’
were fitted with ‘stirrer fans’ that assisted the circulation of the heated air, within the
ovens. The fan motor bearings were in need of replacement every two or three
weeks, because of the high temperatures. We designed a new assembly and
placed the fan motors outside on the roof of the ovens. The shafts were extended
through to the inside of the oven. This meant that the bearings were removed
from the heated area and the system remained as ‘original’ equipment except
for the ‘new’ shafts. The cost of the expensive bearings, the down time and the
loss of production, were well and truly reduced!

On the same survey we were able to reduce their very high water consumption,
negotiate with eskom for a reduced electricity tariff and found the reason why
tyres were excessively worn on certain specialised equipment. Over and above
these findings we discovered that the labourers working on the kilns were building
themselves hideaways amongst the brick stacks thus reducing their productivity.
A simple scheme was devised to ensure they would produce the required pallets
for the day and the supervision was made easy for this improvement.
